Viceroy Snowmass, the best ski resort in Aspen

Voted one of the best ski resorts in the United States, Viceroy has incredible accommodations, a restaurant with organic ingredients and special programs for families

The world-famous ski resort of Aspen Snowmass is a favorite of Brazilians. The range of four mountains located in the state of Colorado, in the United States, has the required structure to please both beginners and expert skiers. The Viceroy Snowmass is located in the middle of the Snowmass Mountain, a luxury mountain hotel, designed to be a connection between premium structure, service and nature. One of the major attractions of the Hotel is precisely its location: the Viceroy is a ski-in/ski-out resort, which is very practical, especially with children. It is well located with direct access to the ski slopes and lifts, making it easy to come and go with your skis still on your feet, without having to carry any equipment or walk long distances.

LUXURIOUS APARTMENTS AND FAMILY CARE

In addition to its excellent location, the Viceroy has several categories of accommodation to welcome all types of families: from studios to penthouses. And all 173 rooms, divided into four categories, from studio to 4-bedroom apartment and mobility accessible rooms, have scenic mountain views, gas fireplaces, beds adorned with 400-thread-count Egyptian sheets and fully-equipped kitchens.

For families, apartments with several bedrooms and bathrooms are the most suitable, because they include a living room where the family can enjoy themselves at the end of the day. In the double bedroom, the bed is king-size and the children can sleep in the other bedrooms with bunk beds or in the living room, as there is a sofa bed. One tip is to ask the hotel check-in to set up a tent in the living room for the children to play in. They will love the surprise!

Note that the kitchen is fully-equipped and includes a dishwasher. The induction cooktop (there is no flame) is a highlight with adapted pots and pans that protect any curious children from burning their hands. Furthermore, if you don’t feel like cooking, the room service is available 24 hours a day and also includes a children’s menu.

All the rooms (except studios) also have washer/dryers, which are essential for drying out those clothes that have become wet after an afternoon of skiing!

The resort has a welcoming and differentiated service for families. Please inform the age of the children at the time of booking, so that all the amenities will be ready in the room before you arrive: these can include child-sized bathrobes, slippers, board games or a stuffed animal to use during your stay. The resort also has a limited number of Xbox and Wii systems and games available on a first-come, first-served basis (if your kids love video games, place an order and the staff can leave a set in your room before you arrive).

For those with babies, the service is also spectacular: if you request a crib in the room (or explain that you have a baby or small child), your room can be prepared with the following items for free use during your stay: inflatable chair , bottle warmer, special disposal for diapers, bathtub faucet protector, electrical socket covers, baby bath amenities and a first aid kit.

Another convenience offered by the resort is the babysitting service to help parents with young children (service paid for separately).

GASTRONOMY

The Viceroy has several different excellent restaurants and the best for families are the Eight K and the Nest Bar.

At Eight K (so named due to the altitude because the hotel is at 8.000 feet, about 2. 400m), children are made very welcome: they can draw on the placemats with washable pens and the children’s menu is healthy and organic with crispy chicken strips, grilled salmon and pasta with meatballs or grilled chicken…

At the Nest Bar, which is outdoors and close to the heated swimming pool and with a view of the ski lift, the meals are snacks and include homemade granola, bagel sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads. These are good options of light and healthy dishes, especially throughout the day, during the hours of skiing.

Parents will love the Latin and contemporary flavors at Toro Kitchen & Lounge. It is listed as one of the best restaurants in Aspen and is run by renowned chef Richard Sandoval, who explores everything from meat cuts to fish dishes inspired by Latin American recipes. The chef is also concerned with the ingredients he uses, always preferring organic, sustainable products produced by local farmers.

PROGRAMS FOR FAMILIES

In addition to all the comfort and services available at the Hotel, children will love the “family friendly” programs that takes place in Aspen, with activities such as skiing, snow tubing, sledding, ice skating, snow biking and roasting marshmallows over the fire, with hot chocolate. Snowmass has the Treehouse Kids Adventure Center, which is a recreation center with many activities and also a ski school for different ages. It even has a nursery where skiing parents can leave their young children while they visit the slopes.

RELAXING

After so much sport, it will be a delight to discover the 700-square-foot spa. Designed by renowned Belgian architect Jean Michel-Gathy, it offers a wide range of holistic experiences and treatments for your well-being, from Indian-inspired therapies to contemporary beauty treatments. In addition to the six luxurious rooms, a space with Vichy hydrotherapy showers provides you to with those moments of intense concentration. It is a space that parents are certain to appreciate.

Outside, there are heated pools to relax your body after a day of skiing and hot tubs that overlook the snow and the ski lift. The children will enjoy themselves waving at the passing skiers.
