O diário das fantásticas viagens de Giovana

D. G. Galvão

A tranquil family trip to the Amazon turns into a grand adventure spanning time when Giovana discovers she is the guardian of a mystical tribe’s crystals, tasked with caring for and protecting this treasure. The adventure involves Clara, her older sister, and their friends, in a quest that traverses the Amazon, their family’s past, and the fulfillment of a girl’s long-held dream. What will happen as Gigi seeks to fulfill her mission? This quest unfolds in four stages: through the Amazon (vol. 1), to Foz do Iguaçu (vol. 2), across the Pantanal (vol. 3), and finally culminates in Paraty (vol. 4).

São Paulo

Mauro Calliari e Irena Freitas

In tribute to the interview we conducted with illustrator Irena Freitas

AWARD-WINNING BOOK BY THE BOLOGNA CHILDREN’S BOOK FAIR 2024

In this city-book, Irena Freitas and Mauro Calliari propose a journey through some of São Paulo’s main historical, cultural, and natural landmarks, translating the vibrant pulse of the São Paulo capital into images (hers) and words (his). A city full of layers, where millions of people share their daily lives amidst an enormous multicultural diversity that brings new facets to a space that continually reinvents itself. The texts and illustrations of São Paulo not only capture the city’s everyday life but also the art of living in such a frenetic atmosphere.

Jet Lag: Poemas para Viagem

Waly Salomão

“Travel, for what and to where, / if we become more unhappy / when we return?” questions Waly Salomão in the emblematic “Jet-lagged Poem.” Travel emerges as one of the central themes in the work of the poet of Syrian origin born in Jequié, Bahia, and based in Rio de Janeiro. Displacement, as seen, constitutes a rich testimony of the author’s journey – both intimate and poetic – but also functions as a provocation to the reader: “wander clinging and detached wander,” advises in “Boarding Fare.”

By gathering verses from one of the main voices of Brazilian culture in the 20th century, this anthology attests that travel, like poetry, offers the possibility of understanding the world with new eyes, expanding borders, returning in a different way – in other words, transforming oneself.
