The colorful and irreverent world of Puket combines well with travel
How a brand of socks and pijamas became a family's lovemark
By Sut-Mie Guibert
We entered the store and there they were: the sales assistants dressed in pajamas. How different! Soon after, another customer came in who noticed the same thing: with the cold weather in the south and southeast of Brazil, these apparently warm pajamas are perfect! If you’ve already come across this scenario, you’ve already entered one of the colorful and humorous stores of Puket, a Brazilian brand of socks, pajamas, non-slip shoes and much more!
The history of this brand is very interesting: it was created by two brothers whose family already worked in the textile industry. However, they wanted something different other than the traditional white socks. They decided to launch Puket, which initially was a brand for children, with lots of colors and fun. From the simple socks, came an enormous and creative range of products such as non-slip shoes, underwear and camisoles. The arrival of the pajamas made the whole family aware of the brand, because the identical pajamas were for the parents and the children, to enjoy together or to give as fun gifts.
From the indoor environment and a good night’s sleep, Puket has launched outdoor products, thinking about vacations and other joyful and happy moments: it has a bathing line with trunks, swimsuits and towels, a line for school and trips with backpacks, lunch boxes, cases, customized bags, cups and toiletry bags… and, in a recent launch, the line for the cold weather with gloves, scarves, earmuffs and hats. These products are most welcome in a market where it is difficult to find these colorful and fun items that are adapted for the little ones. For example, Puket has the one-finger glove, for toddlers (up to 3 years old), who do not know how to put each finger in a normal glove: they put the thumb on the one side and all the fingers on the other side. Much easier.
And what do these products have to do with travel? Everything! We may only be thinking about suitcases and backpacks, but who can resist taking some nice pajamas? There are more than just items for the beach or for the cold. Things that are sold all year round, with different characters, including some licensed ones, like Harry Potter or the Minions.
With this enormous range of products and good humor in the prints and the colors, Puket now has franchises all over Brazil, totaling 179 stores, e-commerce and 14 stores abroad, 8 of which are in the Middle East. A trajectory to be proud of!
And as if this wasn’t enough, Puket has been running the “Meias do Bem” [Socks for Good] program since 2013, where used socks or a single pair can be donated in the stores and they become blankets for institutions, socks for donation or even recycling. A company that we like: which thinks about sustainability and social issues. This is why, for its cheerful personality, for spreading good humor and comfort, for focusing on children and the family and also having a social project, Puket could only be our Lovemark of this edition. A company that combines very well with the morals and ideals of the Family Trip Magazine.
In fact, Destiny will not travel without packing the same pajamas as Hope in her suitcase. The baby has fun and loves having the same clothes as her mother.
