Welcome to paradise in the Maldives! Niyama Private Islands Hotel is the dream destination for those seeking luxury, privacy, and an intimate connection with nature, with its white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. Located on two private islands, Play and Chill, connected by a bridge, this 5-star hotel is divided just as the names suggest: one island is dedicated to relaxing activities, such as the spa and overwater villas, while the other island is home to the incredible Kids Club, restaurants (including one in the treetops), and the pool. As a result, the resort offers a unique experience for all types of guests, from couples in search of romance to discerning families with babies, children, and teenagers.

Upon arriving at the hotel, you are greeted with a warm smile by the staff, who are committed to making your stay memorable in every aspect. They take care of every detail, from the 45-minute scenic seaplane transfer from Velana International Airport (in the capital, Malé) to the island, to organizing activities and excursions. They even provide transportation to the restaurant in golf carts or identify your bike. Throughout your stay, you will have a personal butler at your disposal, as this is an exclusive service for EACH villa. Yes, these are truly dream vacations!

A PARADISE FOR FAMILIES

Let’s start with the children, shall we? Nyiama takes pride in having the largest kids’ club in the Indian Ocean! And indeed, children are welcome from 12 months to 12 years old, divided into different age groups. The Explorer’s Kids Club is free, except for toddlers (13 to 36 months), who pay an hourly fee or have the option to hire a babysitter. The activities are numerous, ranging from floor trampolines, outdoor kitchens for little gourmets, climbing walls, stages for aspiring young artists, and sports enthusiasts can even take surfing lessons starting at 8 years old. Niyama is actually excellently located for surfing, with perfect waves that create tubes for the more experienced surfers. During the activities, children are provided with sunscreen, insect repellent, and healthy snacks.

Speaking of food, the Blu Restaurant has a children’s area, but all the other 8 restaurants have high chairs and a children’s menu (which is interesting because local food can be quite spicy).

Children are truly considered VIPs, and everything is prepared for their arrival in the room, with cribs, bathtubs, strollers, seat reducers, bottle warmers, and a special welcome kit.

The Explorer’s Club offers activities when parents want to take a break. But the most fun part is the numerous activities that can be done as a family, such as bike rides, cruises at sea to see dolphins, and engaging in various sports like surfing, kiteboarding, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, snorkeling, and diving to see turtles and colorful fish. Children and young people will also enjoy learning more about marine life with private biologist guides and participating in the program to adopt a coral and thus contribute to the conservation of the Maldives’ coral reef. They may also enjoy an outdoor cinema session with popcorn. Who said the Maldives would be a paradise solely for relaxation?

Even the Drift SPA offers specific programs for families and children. There’s nothing like relaxing together after a day full of activities. It’s the perfect time to catch up and have a conversation.

CHOOSE YOUR ACCOMMODATION

Options abound! There are truly family-friendly villas available, starting from 135m2, accommodating 3 adults and 1 child. From there, we move on to villas ranging from 190m2 to 255m2, accommodating 4 adults and 1 child. There are also 1, 2, and 3-bedroom pavilions (houses), some with private pools. And even for large families or groups, it is possible to book the utmost luxury and exclusivity with “the Crescent” (cover photo), featuring 5 villas and houses over the water, for 14 adults and 8 children! The complex boasts a private terrace with a jacuzzi, an infinity pool, and direct access to the sea. The view is breathtaking, and you will feel as if you are on a private island.

Despite the imagery we have of overwater rooms in the Maldives, families with young children generally opt for villas with direct beach access, and some even have private pools, so that children can freely enjoy paradise early in the morning. Some villas are nestled in the native forest for a closer connection with nature. All of them feature magnificent open-air bathrooms.

The overwater villas and houses have infinity pools and direct access to the water, with no barriers or railings. Guests staying there are required to sign a liability waiver for young children. However, older children will certainly love the exclusivity and unique views.

All villas and pavilions are modern and well-equipped with Wi-Fi, Bose surround sound, and some houses even have ice machines, microwaves, and wine cellars, as well as sun loungers and swings.

There are many options, but please understand that all of them are excellent, modern, and with a relaxed sense of luxury. The hotel’s website in many languages and currencies, makes it easier to search.

GASTRONOMIC EXPERIENCES

It’s not just the view that makes Nyiama a must-visit destination: its restaurants are as wonderful as that turquoise blue.

Gastronomy is one of the main attractions, and this is reflected in its nine restaurants, all with kids’ menus: You can dine on the water at the Edge islet, which is only accessible by boat. The atmosphere is elegant and specializes in seafood, but the place is perfect for watching the sunset and having an early dinner.

Other unique dining options include the Tribal restaurant, with an African ambiance, serving grilled meats in barbecue style, or how about trying Asian specialties in the treetops at Nest?

For a more casual lunch, Dune is a great choice. Located on the beach, this bar serves light snacks, sandwiches, and salads, along with a wide variety of drinks. It’s the perfect place to relax while enjoying the panoramic view of the beach. In the evening, it transforms into a lounge with a DJ. It’s a pleasant place to have a pre-dinner aperitif. Another ideal spot for a cocktail is the Fahrenheit rooftop, with live music.

For those who prefer lighter options, Blu is the ideal place. This poolside restaurant offers a healthy menu with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes, as well as natural juices and delicious smoothies. Another restaurant with a pool is Epicure, which serves a delightful breakfast buffet and à la carte lunches and dinners. For families who don’t want to stop and sit down for lunch, The Deli has a very interesting “grab ‘n’ go” concept with light items to take away, such as snacks, pastries, and paninis. Perfect for enjoying on the balcony or private beach of the villa.

Finally, for an unforgettable experience, Subsix is an underwater restaurant located six meters below sea level. With an exclusive ambiance and stunning ocean views, this restaurant is perfect for having lunch at the bottom of the sea. With a sophisticated menu that includes seafood dishes, Subsix is an experience not to be missed.

Not forgetting the private options such as candlelit dinners, beach barbecues… the hotel will go above and beyond to help you create that special birthday moment.

With a perfect blend of natural beauty, luxury, and fun activities for the whole family, Niyama Private Islands is an exceptional vacation destination. If you’re looking for a getaway for your family in a paradise-like setting, Niyama Private Islands is the ideal choice. Children will never forget these unique vacations. Saying goodbye to this paradise will be very difficult!
