Miami beyond shopping: family tips from and for families

Valuable tips from our community of traveling parents to make your family trip even more special.

By Sut-Mie Guibert and Flávia Oliveira

Our community of traveling families has an important voice within our platform because they bring real experiences and teachings that help many families with their doubts, anxieties, fears, challenges, and joys while traveling. It’s great to be able to rely on the experience of other families who have already been to a specific destination. We talk about various topics, including itineraries and tips, but we also share the delights and difficulties of traveling as a family. In other words, we talk about what we love and establish this exchange routine very frequently.

Today, we chose to share tips about the city of Miami, one of the favorite destinations for Brazilian families. In this same edition, we already have a beautiful article written by Mari Campos, a travel journalist who uncovered the city for us. But what about families accustomed to visiting the destination? What will be their tips? Is there any insider secret? This is a post for you to bookmark and come back to often (attractions that were mentioned in the previous article are not mentioned again here, so reading both texts is essential)!

HOTELS

  • We stayed in a very charming aparthotel in Wynwood, with included parking: Sonder, The Palace. The best cost-benefit that I found.
  • Hotel in South Beach – Shepley South Beach Hotel.
  • For those who are passing through or going on a cruise: Comfort Inn Suites Miami Intl Airport.
  • One of the best cost/benefits in terms of hotels that we stayed at was the Hilton Miami Dadeland; it’s a bit far from Miami Beach, but I also stayed in Miami Beach and didn’t enjoy it as much. Of course, if a person wants to go to the beach every day, then obviously nothing is better than Miami Beach itself…
  • Homewood Suites by Hilton Miami Downtown/Brickell, a hotel with family rooms.
  • Domio Downtown Miami, a condominium that mixes apartments and offices and accommodated 10 people, and had a really cool common area.

RESTAURANTS

  • Doya Restaurant in Wynwood serves Greek food. Everything is divine.
  • We really liked 3 Chefs and a Chicken, a budget-friendly restaurant with delicious food. We also recommend going to Whole Foods supermarkets to have meals.
  • For a unique experience, try Benihana, a Japanese restaurant with teppanyaki tables where the chef prepares the food and puts on a show.
  • For a taste of Cuban cuisine, check out Versailles Cuban Cuisine in the Cuban neighborhood.
  • And if you want to customize your own burger, head to Fuddruckers.
