Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge South Africa

Selo FTM Hotels

Click and see how the Way Family’s experience was as our Digital Influencers when they visited this Safari Lodge:

What were the first impressions?

A cozy and tastefully designed luxury African lodge (check out our article), with excellent service and attention to detail. The Suites are spacious, renovated, beautifully adorned, and there are 2 magnificent Luxury Villas with 2 bedrooms, true houses with a living room, pool, and private car.

The game drives (safaris) are of extremely high quality, thanks to the lodge’s location, adjacent to Kruger National Park, with no barriers in between. This is also attributed to the highly skilled and trained Rangers. Going on a safari becomes a true lesson about the local fauna and flora, a much richer experience than a simple outing.

The all-inclusive system greatly enhances the experience, with food, drinks, and 2 game drives/day included: early morning and at dusk.

NOTE: Highlight on the Suite accessible for wheelchair users.

What attractions are available for children?

The Elefun Centre is a unique Kids Club: a space where children can play and have fun between 2 safaris, before or after lunch, but with a strong sustainable approach. This is evident in both the recycled outdoor toys and the proposed activities: painting, learning about fauna and flora, planting seeds, identifying bones and footprints, and more. Everything revolves around the savannah and animals. Very engaging and aligned with the surroundings, as children observe animals right outside the lodge. When they return, they continue to engage with the subject in a playful manner. An excellent way to learn about sustainability, conservation, and respect for animals.

What are the attractions for adults?

The biggest attraction is outside: the entire savannah with wild animals, seen during the two daily game drives, each lasting 3 hours—one at dawn and another at sunset, which is stunning due to the colors of the sunset. Between the two adventures and free time, you can relax in several cozy lounges or on the pool deck overlooking the lake where some animals come to drink. Another idea is to indulge in a treatment at the Amani SPA or get a little workout at the small gym.

The rooms are extremely comfortable, whether in the Suites or the Luxury Villas, with 2 bedrooms, pool and a private vehicle for game drives. In terms of dining, a mini breakfast is served early before heading out for a game drive. Later during the safari, there’s another coffee break, and upon return, the breakfast buffet is quite generous. For lunch, the restaurant offers à la carte service. In the afternoon, before the second game drive, a tea is served, and dinner takes place outdoors around a campfire, accompanied by good stories to share.

What can we find nearby?

Sabi Sabi Game Reserve is located 500 kilometers from Johannesburg. You can reach it by car or, preferably, by plane. It can be a private (Federal Air) or commercial flight (Air Link, SAA), landing at either Mpumalanga International Airport (about 2 hours by car) or even better, at Skukuza Airport, which is less than 1 hour away by car. The hotel can arrange the transfer. It’s important not to forget medications or important items. There are shops both at the mini Skukuza airport and at the Lodge itself, offering clothing and basic items.

Prices?

There are often special promotions, such as Family Packages, where the first child (up to 12 years old) stays free for 3-night packages. Or stay 4 nights and pay for only 3, for example. And remember, everything is included in the price: meals, drinks with selected South African wines, game drives.

Prices starting from $975 per night per person (until February 29, 2024). Children aged 4-7 pay $390, and children aged 7-12 pay $485; from 13 years old, they are considered adults.
Note that children above 6 years old can participate in the game drive. Below that age, it’s necessary to pay for a private vehicle (or stay in a Luxury Villa, where it is included).

How to make a reservation?

Directly: on the Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge website
Note: you will be dealing directly with the hotel (in English) and you cannot pay in installments. Also take into consideration the taxes on international purchases and the exchange rate changes on the credit card bill.

Through a travel agency: we recommend Viajar com Crianças or Viajar com Adolescentes, both specialized in family travel, which is totally focused on families, with the advantage of paying a fixed price in Brazil in Reais and the option of installments. The prices can be a little more expensive but they bring the security of not having any exchange rate changes, in addition to the agency being responsible for all the details of the trip. In general, the agency also offers other services that will add value to the purchase as a whole, with tips, information and precautions.
