Filha da Lua, in Pipa, an eco-friendly hotel on the beach

The experience of 5-star accommodation combined with the best ecological and sustainable practices within the hotel and in the surrounding community

By Editorial Team

Inaugurated in December 2020, on the charming beach of Pipa, in Rio Grande do Norte, the hotel Filha da Lua Eco Lodge was created by Inga Synoradzka d’Ansembourg, from Poland, who had been enchanted by the region during a visit to Brazil. Inspired by the experience of the owner in her sophisticated trips around the world, the development is part of a project that brings a new meaning to luxury and eco-friendly tourism.

The resort is a charming and elegant ecological sanctuary, situated between the Atlantic and the sand dunes of one of the most stunning beaches in Brazil: the Praia das Minas. Sustainably designed in harmony with the environment, preserving the local vegetation and the surrounding nature, the hotel offers a refuge where the body and mind can recover from everyday life.

Following sustainable construction practices in order to preserve the forests of the region and the land, the Filha da Lua was built with reforested eucalyptus wood, reducing the carbon emissions of the project. To keep the surroundings untouched, each one of its 17 bungalows was built on stilts, preserving the permeability of the soil without degrading it and through the introduction of a 100% ecological waste station. Some of the bungalows can be fully booked for families of 4. There is no better feeling like living on the edge of the beach!

With a rustic, natural and sophisticated style, inspired by Balinese architecture, the hotel is a place where all the elements of the earth are respected and are in perfect harmony. The decorative items in the rooms were chosen based on Inga’s travels around the world. All of this is designed to provide a sensation of uniqueness. Furthermore, the bungalows are surrounded by an abundant vegetation and have beautiful views towards the sea, the gardens or one of the swimming pools.

The preservation of nature is one of the main values of the resort. With this in mind, the hotel chose not to use plastic on its premises, whether in packaging, straws or shower caps. In the bathrooms of the suites, for example, the items provided to guests are in charming ceramic pieces. The toothpaste available for use is home-made.

The Filha da Lua also has two swimming pools and a spa, in which a selection of Ayurvedic massages and beauty treatments create the perfect atmosphere to relax in a stunning setting.

For the more active families there is an extensive list of activities outside the hotel. They range from kitesurfing and surfing lessons to paragliding flights, buggy rides, bike tours and horseback riding.

The beach in front of the Pousada has a strong current, but in a 10-minute bike ride, you arrive at the famous Praia do Amor, with food and drink services and natural pools at low tide. It is also worth taking a private speedboat ride in the bay in order to see the dolphins. The concierges can organize everything or the agencies Viajar com Crianças and Viajar com Adolescentes have special packages at the hotel, with differentiated and  organized programs.

The gastronomy of the resort also steals the show. This is because all the restaurant dishes are gluten-free and lactose-free and are prepared with organic products that come directly from the local Pachamama farm, which practices biodiversity. It is a veritable festival of colors and flavors of aromatic spices, adaptogens and herbal tonics, which highlight the taste of these pure, locally grown foods without any additives.

Much more than a luxury accommodation

Much more than offering exquisite care, high quality service, excellent food and comfort and beauty, the Filha da Lua Group also wants to contribute to the transformation of the local community via its educational projects. The organization also seeks to share its values of sustainability and diversity.

In addition to the hotel, the Group’s initiatives include the Hello Pipa and Hello Barra schools. They teach vocational skills and English to children in the community and to the women who have not had as many opportunities as the men in that region. There is also the Kitemaster Academy, which is a kitesurfing school for the local population with a focus on the protection and well-being of marine life and the certification of young people looking to enter the job market.

With 11 hectares of biodiversity and organic products, the Pachamama Farm is another project that is part of the daily routine of the Group. It takes a little portion from the countryside to the food table and promotes self-sustainability.

It is an ideal hotel to relax with the family (especially with older children), to take advantage of the excellent service and to teach the new generation about sustainability and conscious tourism.
